Tyre Polish — Safety & Application FAQ
Which surfaces is Tyre Polish suitable for?
Formulated for rubber tyres on cars, bikes, and SUVs. Apply only to the tyre sidewall. Keep away from the tread, braking surfaces, wheel rims, and metal brake components. Do not use on plastic body panels, painted surfaces, or windshields unless you have tested compatibility on a small hidden area first.
How do I prepare the tyre before applying?
Clean the tyre thoroughly with water and a tyre cleaner or mild soap. Remove all mud, brake dust, and old dressing residue. Allow the tyre to dry completely before application — applying to a wet or damp surface reduces adhesion and increases sling risk.
How much product should I use?
A small amount goes a long way. Apply a thin, even coat using a foam or microfibre applicator. Excess product does not improve results — it increases the risk of sling and uneven finish. Build up gradually if a deeper shine is preferred.
How do I apply it evenly?
Dispense a small amount onto an applicator sponge or cloth. Work in smooth, side-to-side strokes across the entire sidewall. Avoid applying near the tread groove edges. After application, wipe away any excess that has spread onto the rim or body panel with a clean, dry cloth before it dries.
How long does it take to dry?
Allow at least 5–10 minutes of dwell time before moving the vehicle. For best results, let it cure for 15–20 minutes. Avoid driving immediately after application — premature movement before the product has set is the primary cause of sling.
How do I prevent product sling onto my paintwork?
Use a minimal amount of product, allow adequate drying time before driving, and wipe away any excess from the tyre sidewall after application. If sling does occur on paintwork, remove it promptly with a clean damp cloth before it dries. Avoid high-speed driving immediately after application.
Is it safe to apply near the wheel rim?
Avoid contact with alloy or steel rims where possible. If product reaches the rim, wipe it off immediately with a dry cloth. Do not apply to brake discs, drums, or callipers under any circumstances.
Is it safe for the tread area?
No. Do not apply to the tread area. Tyre dressings on the contact patch can reduce grip and create a slip hazard. Apply only to the sidewall of the tyre.
Any storage or handling precautions?
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep out of reach of children. In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water. If eye contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with clean water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.
